Updating Images in TECO - by Jennifer Jahedkar

A quick and easy way to give a fresh look to your county’s site is to change the image that is shown. To change the image on the front page of your county’s site:

  • Go to http://webedit.tamu.edu/ and log into TECO

  • Once you are logged in - look for the Image Box section in the upper right corner (Figure 1)

  • Click Browse to navigate through folders to locate the file Note: The image must be in GIF or JPG (JPEG) format

    • Enter a text description then click Change

    • It might be necessary to adjust the size of the image. If that is the case then you will need to:
  • Locate and open the image to be used (IrfanView used in this example)

  • Make sure the width is set to 260 pixels maximum (Figure 2) When adjusting width, make sure to keep proportions the same (e.g. “Lock aspect ratio” or “Preserve Aspect Ratio” are key phrases for which to look).

Don’t let your TECO site get stale. Update the page by updating the image!

Tip of the Month: GroupWise - Sharing Addresses with vCards by Robert H. Jenson

In last month’s issue we discussed how to create and share GroupWise Address Books. While shared address books are the best way to share addresses with other users in our GroupWise system, you cannot share an address book with someone that is not using GroupWise or is not in our GroupWise system. vCards are another way of sharing contact information with people.

To create a vCard:

  1. Click on Tools -Options

  2. Double-click on Environment

  3. Select the Signature tab

  4. You can create a your own signature block, and/ or you can tell GroupWise to attach a vCard

To use the vCard:

  1. Click the box next to vCard

  2. Select whether you want to add it to every message or be prompted to add it

vCards will only be added to messages going to recipients outside our GroupWise system. A vCard will contain all of the information that is in in the GroupWise address book. When the recipient clicks on your vCard, that information will be added to the address book they select.

To share multiple contacts using vCards:

  1. Go to an address book and select one or more users (to select multiple users, hold the CTRL key down while clicking on each user)

  2. Right-click on one of the selected users and Select Export from the context menu that pops up

  3. Where it asks “Save as type” -select vCard addresses (*.vcf)

  4. Enter a filename and click Save

You can then attach that file or multiple vCard files to an e-mail message. When the recipient clicks on it, they will get all of the information associated with the individual contacts and/or groups that you selected when you created the vCard file.

Bonus Tip: If you would like to have more information in your personal vCard than what is in the Novell Address Book, you can create an entry for yourself in one of your other GroupWise address books. Add all of the information you want, phone numbers, home address, etc. and then export it out to a vCard file. Then select that file in the Signature window where you specify to use a vCard.
